Quotes from The Alchemist

When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.

And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

God only rarely reveals the future. When he does so, it is for one reason: it's a future that was written so as to be altered.

Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.

One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.

Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one 'dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.

it's an interdenominational, transcendental, inspirational fable--in other words, a bag of wind.

First of all, I must say that this is one of the books which grips your whole attention and, even more, makes you think about your life in a philosophical manner...I believe it is a great book to read and I thoroughly advise every single person to read it, especially those who are interested in philosophy.

This book is brilliantly written. It touches your heart as the story comes to an end.

It's a strong story related to the reader by the omniscient narrator, told in a way reminiscent of fairy tales or spiritual texts like the Bible or Koran.
