Tris Prior's once believed faction-based society is shattered - fractured by violence and power struggles, and scarred by loss and betrayal. Thus Tris is ready when offered an opportunity to explore the world past the limits she is known to have. She and Tobias will perhaps find a simple new life to... gether beyond the fence, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties and painful memories. But the new reality of Tris is even more alarming than that which it left behind. Old discoveries get meaningless quickly. New explosive truths are changing the hearts of those she loves. And again, Tris has to fight to understand the complexities of human nature - and of itself - while facing impossible choices about courage, loyalty, sacrifice and love. Told from a riveting dual perspective, ALLEGIANT, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, draws a powerful conclusion to the DIVERGENT series, while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in DIVERGENT and INSURGENT.

Though flawed, the story provides a thought-provoking metaphor for crucial conflicts of adolescence, as have its predecessors.
The biggest shift is that the new book alternates between using Tris and Four as narrator...It...allows for a surprise ending that is gutsier and much less predictable than the rest of the series would lead one to expect.
Tris, Tobias and even some of the characters previously considered villains have internalized this lesson by the end of the series, and it will stay with readers after they have turned that final page.
Honestly, aside from a few small gripes, I’m not sure Roth could have done much better in terms of wrapping up the Divergent series.
