Somaiya Daud was born in a town in the Midwest, and spent much of her childhood and adolescence moving around. She started when she was young as most writers, and never really stopped. Her love of all things books prompted her to graduate in English literature (specializing in medieval and early modern literature), and while working on her Master's degree she doubled as a Politics and Prose bookseller in the department of their children. Determined to stay in school for as long as possible, she packed her bags in 2014 and moved the west coast to pursue an English literature doctorate. Now she's getting ready to write a thesis on Victorians, Rock, Race, and the environment. Mirage is her debut, due in Flatiron Books on 28/8/2018.
